More about Selkie
Selkie is a FEMALE startup, owned by a woman and 100% actually run by women. When you shop, you are supporting women business owners.
Selkie is designed in Silverlake, LA by Kimberley Gordon. She works hand in hand with our talented manufacturing team to create fanciful pieces you'll want to keep forever. We fit on both size small and large models to ensure better fit for more shapes.
Selkie aims for cultural diversity from the inside out, today with a British/American founder and creative director, Chinese partners, and Chinese craftsmen, we are still a very small team but we continue to seek new cultural perspectives from our employees, and as we grow we are committed to hiring a diverse range of women. We engage in deep conversations with our fans on social media, and we love to hear your perspective! DM us if you want to join the convo. You too could be a part of our evolving ethos.
Tell me more...
Selkie is not yet 100% sustainable, but we are consciously committed to changing that- and not just as a marketing ploy. Fabric impact is complicated, we encourage you to research different fabrics and their impacts and it's hard to avoid. With pressure on more brands from the consumer we can collectively change the way factories treat their fabrics.
With every collection we aim to improve our footprint. Going sustainable is expensive which makes it hard to balance while maintaining a good price for you, our customer! With growth and purchasing power we get closer to affording our environmental goals.
