LoveFool
Now is the time for Selkie negligees. Lately, spending most of my time indoors, I've felt a need to wear something super relaxed and yet still outrageous and fun, if only for my own mental health. Our homes have become our world, one where getting dressed is often optional. So why not dress for club "bed,” and slip on a negligee, carefree in the French origin of its name, and in its freedom from everyday constraints? This collection is named after the song Lovefool. Written by Peter Svensson and Nina Persson for the Swedishrock band The Cardigans' third studio album, First Band on the Moon (1996), as a sort of pathetic pop ballad, it’s a perfect anthem for all of us hopeless romantics out there. Most of the items in the Lovefool collection are different degrees of flirty, charming or hilariously hammy, and they practically scream out the lyrics:
Love me love me
Say that you love me
Fool me fool me
Go on and fool me
Love me love me
Pretend that you love me
Leave me leave me
Just say that you need me
I believe in daring declarations. They display confidence and strength. Culture often teaches that the feminine role and form should be small, should take up less space, be thinner and quieter, follow the rules, and suffer without complaint. Selkie invites everyone to break free of this burden and ignite a feeling of power not just in love, but in everything we go for! This Valentine's Day, do something bold Don't be held back by embarrassment. Challenge yourself. No more holding back. Has there ever been a more appropriate time to blast love songs under a certain someone's window or shout out to other singles and be your own Valentine?
